I do though, have a major gripe which I will come to. More Show lessįirstly, want to say upfront that we had a good time at Wolf Lodge in Traverse. It exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend it to anyone with a young family to entertain. Omelettes made to your specifications, every type of breakfast food available, and again the excellent staff. We only did it on the last day before we checked out, and it was excellent. One last thing was the pre-paid breakfast plan that's available. Staff also went out of their way to recommend how best to treat the shirts once they got home to ensure colour-fastness. They enjoyed the activity, as well as having the shirts to show for it. The kids club activities were really fun for the boys as well, and they got to make their own tie-dyed Great Wolf Lodge shirts. There was a MagicQuest activity of some sort available that a number of kids were taking part in, but I saw that as overpriced for what it was, and my two kids didn't do it and didn't seem to miss it at all - there was so much else for them to do that they didn't need anything else. One minor complaint is that the coffee there was just crazy expensive, and I like to keep myself caffeinated most of the day, so I had to cut back.

In the waterpark, the staff were especially welcoming with my youngest one, and understood when he backed out of one of the slides at the last minute! We enjoyed some time in the games room, played some mini golf (which the boys loved), and were very pleased with flavours available in the ice-cream and coffee shop by the waterpark entrance. At other hotels, staff seem to want to just answer your question and have you move along as quickly as possible, but here they took the time to get to know you a little bit. It had a real feel of a family or a very close team - staff seemed comfortable and relaxed with each other, and at ease when assisting guests. They genuinely seemed pleased to be talking with you. Staff were all excellent, and went out of their way to be helpful and friendly, and not in an insincere way. Even so, there were plenty of other places to eat nearby if you wanted to go out, but we really liked the convenience of being able to stay in the hotel. We were also pleasantly surprised that it was nowhere near as expensive as what we'd anticipated. The Great Wolf Lodge at Traverse City was much better than Niagara Falls in this regard. The meals at the restaurant were outstanding. It was on the same floor as the entry to the waterpark which was ideal. The room, one of the 'suites', was in excellent shape and was completely clean and stocked with everything we needed. At Traverse City the waterpark is smaller, but it still had plenty for our family to do, and our two boys (ages 3 and 7) had a great time over all three days we stayed. This was our second trip to a hotel in the Great Wolf Lodge chain, our first being to the one in Niagara Falls. At other hotels, staff seem to want to just answer your question and have you move along as quickly.
